Say no to plastic in interior designing and save the environment

There is no denying that plastic is a major factor for pollution in the city. The usage of plastic in many forms not only is harmful to health but also takes a huge part in contaminating the lands, soil, rivers, seas and beaches. Besides the land and water, it also has been turned out a major threat to the plants, animals, and marine creatures including us, humans. Simultaneously, the plastic pollution is spotted as one of the fast-growing issues of today’s scenario of life on earth. We, as a homeowner can try to adopt many ways to avoid plastic materials and items at home for interior designing & decorating in order to improve our environment.

Plastic on a daily basis

To save our environment, we as human beings can contribute our part in many forms. We, who take the form of both homeowners and consumers, should be aware and make conscious decisions. Since we have already in the stage of making intense decision to completely avoid plastics, we either avoid using it or recycle the existing ones rather throwing it away. Throwing the plastics away can make the soil infertile and weak that directly is harmful to plants and trees. Given that we cannot completely avoid using plastics in today’s situation, taking small steps towards it can make a huge difference for the future. To begin with, start by using other substitutions for carrying purchased items from the stores instead of wantingly asking for a plastic bag. To improve from your perspective, have an alternative option for everything where the plastic takes up its form.

Plastics in interior designing and decorating

As a homeowner, you do spend a lot of money on interior designing and decorating for your house. Though you cannot change the entire plan and go no-plastic form for your house, you can still replace some of the accessories used for the embellishments.

Interior design is a fine mix of both intellectual and creative process that creates the result of something mixed with art and tech. The massive flooding of polymers has turned the adventure of interior designers to a whole new level nowadays.

Though plastic has become a boon to interior decoration, it is somehow still an indirect threat to our lives. It is extremely difficult to avoid using plastic as most of the appliances at home are a mix of plastic in it. But you can at least cut off the plastic items up to 35 to 40% by replacing plastic furniture with other material-made ones.

Most of the people living in luxury villas in OMR, ECR, Hyderabad and other metro cities are using plastic infused furniture to enhance the beauty of the interiors. In order to match the overall look of the house, people unconsciously go for the plastic furniture to give a visual appeal to the villa. Instead, you can use wooden furniture to replace the plastic ones at home.

To people who are just moving into a new home, or building a new dream home for you, then opt for those interior plans that include wooden furniture instead of plastic made. Instead of using bean bags, plastic-made sofa, lounge, and other beds use the wooden furniture with fabric upholstery on it. This not only improves the chances of avoiding plastics at home but also adds great value for the look of your home.

Likewise, instead of using the plastic night lamps, you can use fabrics that allows light to scatter and gives a delicate lighting form for the bedroom. Find alternatives for synthetic plastic for your villa and apartment interiors. Especially wood is always a classy and better choice for doors and windows. But, it takes effort and time to maintain from catching termites. If you think wood isn’t a better option for the urban homes, you can search for other alternatives for plastic.

We, as a homeowner, it is our responsibility to take care of our property. So replacing plastics in interior design can make a huge difference both environmentally and aesthetically.
